The Baldoon RUNway
Baldoon WWII Airfield (appears on the map as 'Shell Road') This is a charity event on behalf of The Stroke Association (Scotland).
1. For those who participate regularly in running events, you are unlikely to be gathering sponsorship or donations every time you run. For you there is an on-line sign-up fee of £12.00 (£6.00 for kids) via Entry Central, or £15.00 (£8.00) if you sign up on or after 10th October.
2. For those participants who wish to do so, you may use the Sponsor/Donations Form (available from the organiser) instead of paying the sign-up fee, gathering support for this great cause from friends and relatives.
The 5k will be one lap of the perimeter and the 10k two laps. The 1k is suitable for children, Stroke survivors and wheelchairs. Are you a Stroke survivor and unsure if you can manage the 1k? Don't worry; do what you can and then ride 'home' in style. This is one not to be missed!
For those who wish to walk the 10k, it will be necessary for you to begin half an hour earlier than others, at 11.30am. CAR PARKING: It is essential that all cars are parked up by 11.30am as the 10k walkers will begin at this time. For safety reasons, any latecomers will not be allowed to bring their car to the car park and will require to park on the short runway and walk in from there.
|Race date||Saturday 10th October 2020|
|Venue||Baldoon Airfield, Wigtown|
|Facilities||RAF Wigtown, more commonly known as Baldoon, is an old WWII Airfield and is therefore a very level run. The concrete is, however, fairly compromised in places, so care needs to be taken. The smoothest section has been identified as suitable for the 1k for Stroke Survivors, children and wheelchairs. Following a wet spell, participants should come prepared for muddy conditions! The venue is 2 miles south of Wigtown and 9 miles south of Newton Stewart in South West Scotland. The WWII theme will be carried through into the Big Band Sound music.|
