Run it with a Bunnet - 6k Fun Run, Ayr
We are raising money to fund paediatric brain tumour research, with all funds raised going to a specific team at the Institute of Cancer Research (www.icr.ac.uk) that is focused on researching high grade gliomas, a type of malignant tumour that affects around 30 children in the UK annually.
Brain tumours kill more children in the UK than any other cancer and research has been significantly underfunded for many years. This is one of a number of events through which we are trying to make a difference.
The 6k Fun Run will take place at 10.30 am on Sunday 24th March, starting and finishing at the Dam Park, Ayr and will mainly follow a route along the River Ayr (please see our Facebook page for a map of the route). There will also be a kids' fun run commencing at 10.00am. We plan to have various activities to keep the kids occupied. Registration will be available from 9.30am and we are required to vacate the venue by 12.00 noon. The children's 1k run will be run on the athletics track at the Dam Park.
The cost is £10 for adults and £3 for kids. Adults and kids can enter on the day, and adults can also enter themselves and up to 2 children via www.entrycentral.com, which is our preferred route as this will give us a better indication of numbers of runners and allow us to plan more effectively. All adult finishers will receive a goody bag and all kids will receive a medal. Please see our "Run it with a Bunnet" Facebook page for further updates.
Our aim is to have a bit of fun, look a bit silly and raise some money for a great cause. Do not think you have to run the full 6k - just aim to get round!!
March is Brain Tumour Awareness Month. The only stipulation is that all runners MUST wear a hat during the run and there will be prizes on the day for the most impressive efforts!
We look forward to seeing you, and your hats!
