Those hoping to enter the Bupa Great Winter Run on 10 January had better hurry as the entry limit for the race is close to being reached. Taking place in Edinburgh's Holyrood Park, the event starts with hundreds of youngsters running in the 2.5k Junior Great Winter Run followed by thousands of adults making their traditional start to the New Year with the 5K Great Winter Run.
The 5K course follows Queen's Drive around Arthur's Seat. The first kilometre climbs up past St Margaret's and Dunsapie Loch before rewarding participants’ hard work with some amazing views of Edinburgh as you circle Arthur’s Seat.
All finishers will receive a long sleeved souvenir Great Winter Run T-shirt, medal, timing chip, and finishers’ pack. Locally sourced gourmet food will be available post-race for those who have worked up an appetite.
After finishing, participants will have the chance to welcome some of the world's finest athletes to the Scottish capital in the afternoon for the Great Edinburgh XCountry event. The race will be televised live on BBC1 and is free for spectators.
