The second of three races which make up the 2018/19 Trossachs Night Trail Series will be held at 7.15pm tomorrow night (Wednesday, 12 December).
Runners who didn’t take part in the first event, held last month, will need to complete this race as well as the third and final race on 6 February if they want to be in the running for the series prize.
Each of the three races in the series – organised by Carnethy Hill Runners Club – follow forest trails and fire roads in the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park. Each of the three routes is different, but all come in at between five and six miles. All the courses will be marked with reflective tape and head torches are mandatory.
The first event, held on 7 November, featured a larger than normal turnout of 173, which bodes well for the rest of the series. Held after a day’s rain, the going on the 5.5-mile route was reported to be ‘pretty good’, with ‘only one very wet slippery section which fortunately was uphill and not down’.
The men’s and women’s races were won by Elliot Sedman (Grangemouth Tri) and Jessica Martin (Shelttleston).
for Wednesday night’s race will start at 6pm at the Riverside Inn, Callender.
The third and final race in the series will be held on 6 February, with registration from 6pm at the Forth Inn, Aberfoyle.
Entry costs £6 for each race or £14 for the series of three. Members of Carnethy are free with a club vest, but a donation to Strathcarron hospice would be appreciated.
As is to be expected at this time of year, organisers advise that in the event of bad weather the race may be cancelled or the route changed. Keep an eye on Facebook
