A Scot who had a liver transplant last year is to travel to Argentina to represent Great Britain and Northern Ireland at the 2015 World Transplant Games. David Mushet from Barrhead will be running, cycling and walking at the event in August.
Scot To Compete In Transplant Games
The event will feature more than 140 athletes who have received transplants, including 14 juniors. Half of the British team are new members and were selected following this year's Westfield Health British Transplant Games.
David had a liver transplant in January 2013 after being diagnosed with Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis.
He said: "Following my performance in Bolton where I won the gold medal in the 5K Race Walk and set a PB in the Cycling TT, I have been chosen to represent Gret Britain next summer at the World Transplant Games in Mar del Plata.
"At my age and after all I have been through it will be a dream come true and a great honour to represent my country. Without the generosity of my donor’s family, none of this would have been possible.”
