Runners in Scotland who are looking for their next challenge will have the opportunity to learn new off road running skills as a new Salomon training weekend comes to Mugdock Country Park, just outside Glasgow on October 8-10. Glasagow Runner, Russell Whittington told scottishrunningguide.com more about what the camps have to offer ...
"I attended a previous Salomon trail camp in Keswick and had an excellent weekend. The course is both informative and fun with a lot of expert advice from some of the top names in trail running. It caters for all levels of runner from absolute beginners through to experienced runners.
"The course is run by Tim Lloyd, founder of the highly successful SAAB Salomon Trail running team. He is ably assisted by the Salomon sponsored athletes who run trail races all over the world. In Mugdock this will include, amongst others, Tom Owens. Tom runs for Shettleston and has recently returned from winning the Gore-Tex Transalpine-run with Andy Symonds for the second year running.
"Amongst the areas covered will specific off road techniques, nutrition, injury prevention, personalised training programmes as well as the right kit to use to get the best out of your off-road mileage.
"The weekend starts in the afternoon of Friday, October 8 with an introduction to the team that will be running the course, followed by an easy run. The bulk of the training is carried out on the Saturday, then on Sunday morning you can put the training to the test at the Turbo X trail race through Mugdock Country Park."
The cost of the event includes training sessions, two nights accommodation, food for the weekend and entry to the race.
