Toughest 10K?

Runners who like a challenge will be interested in a new event to be staged on April 18 in Bridge of Allan - the Toughest 10k.

The race is sponsored by The Running Company, the Bridge of Allan-based specialist running store and is not aimed at new runners or those for whom an ordinary 10k is a challenge. Organisers are looking to attract more committed runners who will not be put off by the height gain of 1150ft or the fact that most of the ascent (600ft) comes in a stretch known as the 'killer mile'.

Alistair Henderson of The Running Company told scottishrunningguide.com: "The race is all being staged at the Bridge of Allan Sports Club and will be a real community effort. We are deliberately trying to warn casual joggers that it is not your normal 10k and requires a bit of extra training and effort. The Toughest 10k will raise funds for sports development projects at the local primary school and will hopefully become an annual event.

I ran the Bridge Of Allan 10k yesterday and it was thoroughly enjoyable!!! Tthe monster 1st hill beat me after just over 2/3 of it but the rest i just dug in and got there. I will defo be running it again next year and will be taking a few pals with me. It was really well organised and the burger at te end was mmmm i even tried to charm two, but the wee lassie wasn't having it. The goodie bag was also excellent, overall a great race and a great venue, thanks to all who contributed to the day.
