Online entries for one of Scotland's favourite running events - the Black Rock 5 - opened last night at 7pm (Friday 8 March). Race organisers have made 700 places available at Entry Central with a further allocation going to the first 200 postal entries received. By 9.30 am this morning (Saturday 9 March) over 600 online entries had been recorded.
The AGR Black Rock '5' is a unique road and beach race held on a Friday evening in Kinghorn, Fife - 21 June is the 2013 date. The event is timed to coincide with a sufficiently low tide to enable the race to pass behind the Black Rock which is about half a mile offshore from Burntisland.
The race starts at the east end of Harbour Road in Kinghorn and finishes up the steep hill at South Overgate. The fastest will be back in around 23 minutes while more modest competitors can take an hour or more before they claim the bottle of ale awarded to all finishers.
