300 competitors took to Glasgow Green on Wednesday (June 20) for the fourth instalment of the Nuffield Health jogscotland's 5k challenge series. While the city has been downcast and plagued by rain over the last week, runners enjoyed a lovely summer's evening as they made their way through Glasgow Green and alongside the River Clyde.
Following previous stops in Aberdeen, Inverness and Peebles, the Glasgow event saw Kieran Docherty first home in an impressive time of 16:25. Docherty was followed by Derek Govan (16:54), with Inverclyde AC's Thomas Jamieson in third position (17:02). Lesley Chisholm of Garscube Harriers was the first in the female field with a time of 17:40.
With background music and stalls from Nuffield Health, Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland and specialist retailers Run 4 It, runners were treated to a great atmosphere at Glasgow Green.
The next two events in the series are at Camperdown Park, Dundee, on June 26 and at Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh, on June 27. For more information and to register, visit the jogscotland website.
