Tabloid Favourites Set For London

This is Essex star Mark Wright

Amongst the tens of thousands of runners that will hit the streets for this Sunday's London Marathon, there will be scores of celebrities also tempted by the 26.2mile challenge and the opportunity to raise millions for charity. Among them are marathon regulars supermodel Nell McAndrew, Michelin star chef Michel Roux Junior and Emmerdale actor Tony Audenshaw. Also in the field is tabloid favourite Mark Wright, star of ITV2 hit 'The Only Way Is Essex'.

Pre-event publicity had indicated that tabloid queen Katie Price would also be on the start-line, but her name is now notorious by its absence on the race organisers' publicity material.

Other notable entries include 1990s TV presenter Gail Porter, Kaiser Chief's lead singer Ricky Wilson, comedian Joe Pasquale, Pop Idol winner Will Young, Apprentice winner Stella English and former Buck's Fizz singer and TV presenter Cheryl Baker.

There are also several ex-GB international sportsmen who will be seeing if they can add a 2011 London Marathon finishers medal to their collection, among them are former Paralympic champion Danny Crates, GB Olympic 4x400m relay medallists Iwan Thomas and Jamie Baulch and Olympic rowing gold medallists James Cracknell and Matthew Pinsent.
