The Subway Helping Hearts Family 5K is approaching halfway for 2014, with the sixth of its 12 events being held on Sunday (20 July). Run in conjunction with national charity Heart Research UK, the series has doubled in size since its launch last year.
The events are open to all ages and abilities with participants encouraged to walk, run or push their way around the course.
Series ambassador, Olympic gymnast Louis Smith said of the series’ expansion: “It’s great to see the Subway Helping Hearts Family 5K series come back bigger and better in 2014. I had a fantastic time at last year’s events, seeing so many local families having fun and get active so it’s a pleasure to be part of it again.”
The seven events set to take place before the end of September:
- Manchester - 20 July
- Motherwell -17 August
- Bristol - 24 August
- Leeds 31 August
- Belfast 7 September
- Sheffield 21 September
- Blackpool - 28 September
The events are family friendly with free entry for children under 12 and lots of free, fun activities on the day to help keep the kids entertained with face-painting and a bouncy castle. Everyone who takes part will receive a free Subway to go lunch, and a goodybag.
Entrants are encouraged to help raise money for Subway’s charity partner Heart Research UK with all sponsorship money raised going directly towards funding the Heart Research UK and Subway Healthy Heart grant scheme in the local community.
