Still Time For New York

action at New York marathon

If you'd like to run the 2011 ING New York City Marathon and you still haven't entered, then you have less than two weeks (August 31 is the deadline) to confirm your place on the start line on November 6. However Sports Tours International (STI), the longest standing travel partner of the New York Marathon, still have marathon entries available in conjunction with different types of travel packages.

2011 will see many of the established elements of the successful Sports Tours International packages still in place - a selection of top hotels, great hotel locations, the support of STI's experienced team and lots of extras, but there are some updates this year.

Many past runners in New York will be familiar with the International Friendship Run. This year, there will be a different event to bring the international runners together on the Friday evening in Central Park - a Parade of Nations. A number of delegates from participating countries will dress in traditional costumes and be cheered on by the supporting public. There will also be live entertainment and fireworks to follow.

On the Saturday morning, there will be a new 5k run, going through the streets of Midtown Manhattan and finishing at the official marathon finish line in Central Park, for which there will be an entry fee of $50, although the first 3,000 international runners will be allowed entry into this event at half price.
