Runners have until January 17 to enjoy a special early bird rate of £21 for the Inverness Half Marathon which will be run on Sunday, March 13. An entry for this event - one of the first big races of 2011 - would be a perfect complement to that popular New Year's resolution - getting fitter.

Runners taking part in the Inverness Half Marathon will find a new hand on the starting gun for this popular event established over quarter of a century ago. Caledonian Concepts, the organisers of the popular Loch Ness Marathon, will take over the baton from team who have steered the event to its current success.

The Inverness Half Marathon and the associated 5K Fun Run offer two challenging and rewarding ways to enjoy the fun. The course begins at Inverness' Bught Park follows a scenic route suitable for all ability levels, and brings runners to a warm welcome at the finish line in the city's Queen's Park Stadium.

Over 2000 runners took part in the 2010 event, with Ben Livesey first to cross the finish line and Melissa Whyte the fastest woman.

Entry is guaranteed for all runners until the race limit is reached or until the closing date of February 28, 2011, whichever is sooner. For full details of all aspects of the event, visit the race website or call the hotline on 0844 8751411
