Sunny spring weather meant a record turnout for parkrun in Scotland. 788 runners took part in the three events at Glasgow's Pollok Park (370), Edinburgh's Silverknowes (299) and Strathclyde Park (120).
Edinburgh's attendance was also the largest for the event and regular parkrunner Colin McGill marked the occasion with a PB of 16:01 to take first place. The popular Edinburgh AC man is now looking forward to the Virgin London Marathon next week. Claire Couper (18:13) was fastest lady while veteran Andrew Grant completed the record field as sweeper.
At Glasgow McGill's team mate Sarah Hood ran a fast 17:54 to be first woman finisher; Stuart Gibson (Ronhill Cambuslang Harriers) was first man in 15:49.
First home in Strathclyde's birthday parkrun was wheelchair participant Colette Martin. The Red Star AC recorded a PB of 16:44.
One Glasgow parkrunner who put in a sterling performance yesterday was Bellahouston Road Runner Lynsey Munro. The flame-haired flyer gave birth to Noah David Munro - 5 weeks early - at 6.17am. The new arrival weighted in at 6lbs 8oz - mother, baby and father Tony all doing well.
