As the school summer holidays arrive in Scotland, weekly parkrun meetings are struggling to find enough volunteers to help at the runs on Saturday mornings, as people take time out to go on holiday.
Scotland's three events in Glasgow's Pollok Park, Edinburgh's Crammond/Silverknowes Promenade and Strathcylde Park hold free 5K, time trials for runners to come along to, but the events would not be possible without a group of volunteers to help organise the route and runners.
Recent winner of the UK-wide 'parkrunner of the week' award, Campbell Joss is a member of Bellahouston Harriers in Glasgow and volunteers on a regular basis. He said, "I have carried out most of the volunteer positions and also provided an official course measurement. I find this just as enjoyable as running and on occasions it can be more challenging. I think it is an important part of the ethos of the event that all those who take part regularly should volunteer occasionally."
