The final weekend of June presents plenty of opportunities across Scotland to get involved in running events. We take a look at some of the standouts.
Tour Guide Ae’ Glasgow – Saturday 24 June
The unique Tour Ae’ Glasgow will be held on Saturday at Glasgow Green and sets entrants the challenge of seeing 20 destinations in two hours or less. The all-inclusive race is open to all and how far you run is up to you. Organisers note the event requires loads of selfies to be taken as well as lots of fun and frolics.
Ronhill West Highland Way Race - Saturday 24 June
The epic West Highland Way Race returns on Saturday, starting at Milngavie Railway Station (seven miles north of Glasgow) at 1am and finishes at the leisure centre in Fort William – with competitors required to finish no later than noon on Sunday 25 June. The 95-mile race includes a daunting 14.760ft of ascent. This isn’t a race for the faint hearted!
Run Mhor Half Marathon, 10K & Fun Run – Saturday 24 June
A fantastic race, boasting fantastic hospitality. Participants and spectators will be able to take advantage of Mhor 84's fantastic array of food and drink to help you fuel up or relax before, during and after the event. The Run Mhor Half Marathon incorporates two loops with the mid-point of the event returning to Mhor 84. Loop one takes runners towards the village of Balquhidder, past the church where Rob Roy is buried and the head of Loch Voil.
Benarty Gala Trail Race – Sunday 25 June
The Benarty Gala Trail Race is approximately 5.5 miles in distance run on the trails, woodland paths and roads within the beautiful surroundings of Lochore Meadows Country Park. The local pipe band will be playing as they lead the runners to the start line in front of hundreds of spectators.
