Scottish parkruns Reach One Million Mark

Edinburgh parkrun

Last Saturday (14 December) saw the total kilometres covered accumulatively by Scottish parkruns reach the 1,000,000 mark. 8,060 kms were covered on Saturday making the overall figure a staggering 1,001,875 from 1250 events, all beginning five years ago with Glasgow parkrun on 6 December 2008.

The Scottish parkrun family continued to grow this year with new events in Glasgow, Ayrshire, and Perth. It looks like it will continue to do so in 2014 with a Springburn parkrun planned to start in spring.

Looking ahead to Christmas and the new year, there will be several extra parkrun events on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Christmas Day runs will be held at the following parkruns: Eglinton, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Camperdown, and St Andrews. New Year's Day events will take place at Strathclyde, Glasgow, Aberdeen, and Camperdown parkruns.
