Following the success of last year’s inaugural event, the Scottish Half Marathon returns for its second year on Saturday (19 September). Thousands of runners will head along the magnificent East Lothian ‘Golf Coast’ before finishing in the final furlong at Musselburgh Racecourse.
Scottish Half Returns
For anyone eyeing a PB the race is an ideal opportunity, with a seriously flat and rapid route. There are a number of landmarks to look out for on the course: the setting of the Battle of Prestonpans, the beautiful John Muir Way, the serene Longniddry Bents, the historical Musselburgh Links, and the grandstand finish of Musselburgh Racecourse.
Robert Fleming is taking part in the race to celebrate his 30th birthday and raise money for Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland. Through running, Robert has shed nine stone. He explains how his dog, Tiki, helped motivate him: "Without Tiki I don’t think I would be where I am today. When I got him he was so shy and nervous. As the months went on we helped each other and he’s much happier."
