Both Scottish events in the 2018 Dog Jog series will be held this weekend.
These unique 5k events are aimed at all ages and abilities and are carefully designed to benefit both owners and their dog(s). Glasgow’s event (Saturday, 28 July) will be held at 2pm in Bellahouston Park; Edinburgh’s event (Sunday, 29 July) will be at the same time, in Holyrood Park.
Dog Jogs are all about having fun in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere with no time limits or pressure. Their aim is to encourage owners to get fit and have fun with their four-legged friends. Dog Jogs are also a great way for participants to raise money for a charity they really care about, dog-related or otherwise.
Event director Neil Kilgour told RunABC Scotland: “Dog Jogs are a fantastic opportunity for you and your canine companion to get some fresh air and meet other like-minded people and dogs in your local area. Even better, your pooch can decide the pace. Walking, jogging or running hounds are all welcome.”
He added: “We want to ensure that every dog has the best experience possible, so we’re putting every effort into making sure they leave with their tails wagging for days.”
Each participant will receive a ‘Doggy Bag’, jam-packed with goodies for both runner and dog to enjoy – including a Dog Jog collar keyring medal and dog toy – once they cross the finish line.
Entries are still available for both events, but must be made before 10am on race day.
