Central Park will be awash with bagpipes and kilted runners tomorrow (Saturday, April 7) at the annual Scotland Run 10k. The race, which celebrates Scottish music and culture, is run on the classic New York course, covering one lap of Central Park's six-mile loop.
Sponsored by the Scottish Government, the ninth staging of the event is expected to attract 10,000 tartan-clad runners. As a pre-qualifier for the New York Marathon, the race is also regarded as an important fixture in the city's running calendar.
This year the Scottish Government and New York Road Runners are encouraging participants and spectators to snap shops of themselves wearing their best Scottish-inspired look and upload them to the event page, with the winner awarded a 5-day trip to Edinburgh.
