There was success for Scottish runners at the Lillebaelt Half Marathon in Denmark on Saturday (6 May). The most notable was a superb performance from Central AC's Cameron Milne.
Milne clocked a PB of 66:39 on his senior Scotland debut, keeping up with the leading group in the early stages and, with 2k to go, overhauling Kilbarchan’s Derek Hawkins to become the first Scot across the line. Hawkins finished in fourth place.
Cameron was in the same year at Kinross High as Laura Muir and a few years behind Eilidh Doyle, so extends a proud record for the Kinross school.
Forres Harrier Mark Mitchell, who is working towards an autumn marathon debut, took seventh place to complete the Scottish men’s team.
Gemma Rankin (79:25) was the top Scottish woman, in fifth place, while Jenny Bannerman (Inverness Harriers) took sixth place in 80:36 to make a total of four Scots in top six podium places. Central AC’s Jenn Wetton fnished in ninth.
