Kilbarchan AAC's Hayley Haining topped a series of strong Scottish performances at the Lillebaelt International half marathon on Saturday (May 5) by finishing first in the women's competition. In the men's field, Ross Houston and Andy Douglas also secured podium positions, with the Scots runners finishing in second and third place respectively.
Haining, 40, secured top billing with a time of 1:15:29, 7 seconds ahead of Charnwood's Juliet Doyle. Cathy Ansell took third place (1:17:08), whilst Haining's clubmate and fellow Scot Gemma Rankin, recorded an impressive performance of 1:18:51, giving her fifth position.
After battling it out in the Balmoral 10k last Sunday, Houston and Douglas were once again at the front of the field in the half marathon race. Roles were reversed this weekend, with Houston finishing second overall in 65:61 and Douglas not far behind in 65:56.
The event, which is based near Copenhagen, drew in a record crowd of around 11,000 runners this year. Full results of the race are available here.
