Some 1500 Santas and Elves and one or two dogs braved the freezing cold In Edinburgh on Sunday, December 13 as they took part in the annual Great Scottish Santa Run. Raising funds for the When You Wish Upon A Star and Radio Forth’s Cash 4 Kids charities, the brightly coloured runners completed two laps of the Capital’s famous West Princes Street Gardens.

Local radio station Forth One were on hand to keep the competitors and spectators entertained from the Ross Bandstand whilst, the Stockbridge Pipe Band provided a soundtrack to the event which saw the gardens being transformed into a sea of red and white. The entertainment continued until 11am, with Edinburgh’s Got Talent star, 14-year old Jack Robertson, getting everyone into the Christmas mood. As the Santas and Elves made their way back at the Ross Bandstand, everyone who finished was awarded with a medal and the cast of We Will Rock You entertained the throng with some appropriate music and dance routines. The whole event was a great success and hugely enjoyable for everyone.

The Santa Runs have taken place in Edinburgh for the last five years and have made it possible for charities to transform the lives of so many youngsters.
