More than 300 female runners were greeted with sunshine as they took part in the Arbroath Footers' Smokies 10 Ladies Race on Sunday (2 March). The race, held for the 26th year, was won by Gillian Sangster of Dundee Road Runners, completing the course in 64:54. Gillian was closely followed in second place by Jillian Gordon of Kinross Road Runners (65:34). Jillian's clubmate, Alison Houston, was the midpoint runner in 93:50.
Many participants took to Facebook after the race to leave feedback. One runner, Rhona Guild commented: "Thanks to everyone who made today happen. Great route - so good to see so many girls and ladies of all ages taking part- look forward to doing it again next year."
Ali Clarke added: "Thank you very much for a brilliantly organised race - from the friendly marshals to the fab goody bag and the lovely food - top marks. I'm sure the hills were steeper this year! Look forward to doing again in 2015."
