The rise of ultra running across the UK has been apparent in both increasing participation in distance running in general and the prevalence of 26.2 plus mile events (a quick glance at our race listings page shows there's at least one a month). As such, Salomon is launching academies to unearth any ultra stars in the making and assist in their development.
The Salomon Ultra Running Academies will be set across North America, Europe and Asia-Oceania. Within each continent, eight women and eight men, aged over 20, will be selected to spend a week training with the legends of the discipline, sharing with the experts of the sports and the Salomon product developers.
Ultra runner Max King, winner at the IAU 2014 100K World Championship, commented: “I was lucky enough to work with the youth at the Salomon Running Academy and am excited to be working on this new project to bring the same incredible experience to ultra-runners."
The European academy will take place in Annency, France and of the 16 runners selected in the European category, two will be invited to participate in the Chamonix 80K in France at the end of June and then to the Trans Alpines run in Germany at the end of August.
Applications for the academy are now open and will close on 5 February. Check details here.
