As daylight fades in Edinburgh on Saturday evening (3 June), hundreds of runners will head for the hills to take on the iconic and historic Arthur’s Seat in Holyrood Park. The event is part of the Salomon Sunset Series, who are hosting evening runs across the UK this summer.
Runners will follow this beautiful scenic route of two 5km loops in Holyrood Park at sunset, the most magical time of day. Removed will be the traffic, city noises and crowds and they will be replaced with beautiful scenery, sounds of nature and a sunset view, providing an entirely different running experience.
Sitting at 251m above sea level, Arthur’s Seat features a diverse range of terrain for runners to tackle. This 10km route starts at 8.30 pm when runners will navigate their way over the rocky and wild landscape, finishing with a stunning view as the sun sets over the iconic Scottish cityscape.
The action at Holyrood Park begins at 4.30pm where there will be the opportunity to enjoy a whole host of free events including trail workshops with Edinburgh’s very own Donnie Campbell – the British Ultra Trail Champion, Q&As with World Trail Running champ Ricky Lightfoot, yoga, recovery and warmup sessions, plus a family trail workshop.
