Run 4 It in Glasgow is urging office workers to get fit in time for the Christmas season with the launch of a new lunchtime running club on Tuesday, November 9. The weekly club, organised by Run 4 It's Bothwell Street branch in partnership with jogscotland, is aimed at city centre workers of all levels of fitness and will offer six weeks of expert running instruction entirely free of charge.
Staff from Run 4 It will lead a 30-minute run around the city centre to help workers find the time to exercise in busy schedules which might not allow morning or evening runs.
Duncan Riddoch, managing director of Run 4 It, said: "Running is the ideal way for people to get in shape before Christmas and maintain fitness and wellbeing throughout the new year. However, people with busy lives often find it difficult to find the time to run before or after their day at work, and it can be doubly difficult during the winter months because of the reduced hours of daylight.
"We decided to offer a free lunchtime running club to workers around our Bothwell Street store to help them find the time to run during their working day, benefit from the expert advice of our staff, and stay motivated to continue with the support the other members of the club.
"Individuals and groups are welcome to join the club, and attendees can join in or drop out during the six weeks the club will be meeting if their schedules don't allow them to attend every week. If the club proves popular, we may also look to make it into a regular event throughout the year."
Run 4 It's lunchtime running club begins at 12:30pm on Tuesday, November 9 at the store on 57 Bothwell Street. It will run every Tuesday for six weeks, with the final group meeting on Tuesday December 21. Runners of all abilities over the age of 16 are welcome to come along and join in the fun.
