Organisers of the global Run in the Dark event scheduled for Wednesday 14 November have an ambitious target. They want to create the biggest multi-location, mass participation running event in the world. And they want you to be part of it.
Locations, including London, Dublin and New York, will see events taking place at 7.30pm local times. The purpose of Run in the Dark is to raise funds for the Mark Pollock Trust. Mark Pollock is an inspirational character who lost his sight in his 20s, then two years ago had a fall that broke his back and left him paralysed. Not one for letting life's adversities get him down, Mark is determined to walk again and his supporters created Run in the Dark to fuel this ambition.
Organisers are inviting runners in the UK and abroad to sign up for one of the arranged runs or to create their own pop-up event. Go to the Run in the Dark website to find about an event in your city or to get advice about arranging your own event. Run In The Dark is about fun and getting involved; there are 5k and 10ks on the international roster, and participants can either run or walk the distance.
Last year, saw Run in the Dark pop-up events in over 20 locations around the world including Paris, Brussels, San Francisco, Neuchatel, Toronto, Dallas, Puerto Rico, Quebec, Amsterdam, Singapore and Sydney.
