Runners from over 50 cities will pull on running shoes and flashing armbands as ‘living light show’ Run in the Dark returns on Wednesday 16 November. The five official locations are Manchester, London, Dublin, Cork and Belfast, with Edinburgh again hosting a pop-up event.
Run In The Dark Returns
The Edinburgh event features a 5k and 10k, starting at Crowne Plaza Edinburgh. It will be championed by Lucja Leonard and Iona MacArthur. The 5k will take runners down to Holyrood Park and through Hunters Bog, underneath Arthur’s Seat to enjoy pure darkness. The route then goes back up past the Palace of Holyroodhouse and the Scottish Parliament before returning to the Crowne Plaza. The stoic 10k runners will loop around once more.
After the race has finished all runners are encouraged to reunite at the hotels’ Terrace Bar for an 'obligatory’ night cap. The cost of entering is £20, with all funds raised supporting the Mark Pollock Trust mission to find and connect people worldwide to fast-track a cure for paralysis. Participants will receive a run entry, Run in the Dark buff and flashing armband. Chip-timing is not in operation for the pop-up events. For participants’ safety, organisers ask that you bring a head torch or handheld torch to the event.
