Royal 5K Planned For June

runners at Balmoral Castle

2010 saw the first running of the St. James's Place Foundation Balmoral Half Marathon in the grounds of Balmoral Castle and following the success of the inaugural run, organisers are planning an expanded event. They are introducing a 5K and for those not up to the challenge of a half marathon, the 5K Family Fun Run is a perfect opportunity to run, jog or walk along the river and back in time to cheer on those involved in the main event.

The St. James's Place Foundation Balmoral Half Marathon on Saturday, June 4 offers a challenging course taking runners along roads and tracks through the private estate of Balmoral Castle. These are not normally accessible to the general public. Participants can expect stunning scenery as they pass through the ancient Caledonian Scots Pine Forest and under the famous Lochnagar Mountain as they catch a glimpse of what life is like for the Royal Family enjoying their holiday.

Entries can be made via the Born2Run online entry system at £26.50 per runner. Entries are £10 per adult (£5 for children) for the 5k and can be made on the day, however a car pass may be obtained in advance from gemma.wood@sjpp.co.uk

This is a charity event in aid of the St. James's Place Foundation and any funds raised will be gratefully received although not obligatory. All funds raised will be matching £1 for £1 by St. James's Place.

At present the Foundation gives vital funds to UK registered charities whose work is based on our two main themes 'Cherishing the Children' and 'The Hospice Movement'. In total, over £20.7 million has been given in grants to all causes since the Foundation was established just over 19 years ago.
