Glasgow’s junior parkrun scene continues to grow with a new Rouken Glen event having launched last month (31 October). 199 runners, aged 4–14, enjoyed two flat 1km laps on the bright, autumnal morning.
The free event is the second junior parkrun to launch in Glasgow, following in the footsteps of Victoria junior parkrun in the city’s west end. There are now seven junior parkruns in Scotland altogether.
Event volunteer Jack Arnold said: “There was a fantastic atmosphere in the park. The event was certainly popular and looks to have got off to a fantastic start with lots of positive feedback and happy kids.”
Rouken Glen Park was chosen due to the play park and nearby café facilities. The event is run by volunteers and welcomes offers of support. Anyone looking to get involved should contact the event through the parkrun website or event's Facebook page.
