Runners in the West Highland port of Mallaig are gearing up for the annual Road to the Isles Relay Half Marathon tomorrow (Saturday 3 May). The event also features the Walk on the Wild Side Half Marathon for those who don’t wish to run. Both races start at Beasdale Station and follow the scenic route through Arisaig and Morar, finishing by Mallaig & District Swimming Pool.
Organisers describe the event as 'a challenging half marathon that takes you through some of the most impressive scenery in Scotland. It is an undulating course that finishes on a high!'
The Relay Half Marathon is split into three sections with distances of 6.6 miles, 3.1 miles and 3.4 miles. Teams can comprise of up to three members and anyone looking for a challenge can take on the half marathon as an individual.
Those considering jogging at any point during the Walk on the Wild Side event are advised to instead enter the individual running half marathon. Each participant will receive a complimentary T-shirt and refreshments will be provided at the finish.
