In just over a month over 10,000 competitors will head to the south of France for the French Riviera Marathon on 10 November. The region has long been a favourite tourist spot for Brits to relax in, but thanks to the marathon a more active type of visitor is being drawn there.
Now in its fifth year, the race covers the 'Promenade des Anglais' in Nice and finishes at 'La Croisette' in Cannes (taking in a total of seven cities). The course is relatively flat and mainly along the Mediterranean coast with the highest points around Cap d'Antibes and the bay Golfe Juan. Along the way, runners will see the famous Hotel Negresco, Nice Phoenix Park with seven hectares of greenery and diverse birdlife, and the Palm Beach Casino in Cannes.
For those interested in taking part, Sports Tours International has teamed up with race organisers to offer VIP packages which include accommodation at the world famous 5 star Hotel Carlton, located on finish line of the French Riviera Marathon in the heart of Cannes, on a bed and breakfast basis. A two night stay for two people is priced at £269, or £349 for 3 nights.
The package also includes, race number in your room on arrival, a coaching session, a pasta party at the Hotel Carlton, lunch time buffet on the Sunday and transfers to the marathon start line in Nice.
