A record field took part in Edinburgh parkrun on Saturday (25 July) as the event celebrated its 300th running. 642 parkrunners – a new Scottish record – completed the free 5k at the shorefront at Cramond. Of the field, 86 were first timers with 46 running clubs represented; 126 PBs were recorded.
Volunteer, Ross Nicol, posted a video featuring footage from the 25 July event and also the previous week’s parkrun. You can view this at the top of the page.
Edinburgh AC’s Leon Johnson was the first to cross the finish line, completing the course in 16:20. The fastest female was Megan Davidson of Falkirk Victoria Harriers with a time of 18:13. The midpoint runner was Michael Bruce in 25:31.
Edinburgh parkrunner, Davie Black, said: “Saturday’s event stands as testament to a buzz. Hype, an intensity, excitement perhaps but just something more alive than most Saturdays. Our milestone events turn themselves over to this and with a helping hand from Mother Nature then we have a perfect parkrun storm.”
