A record 1000 competitors will line up for the Run Garioch Dandara 10K on Sunday (March 23). The race will see elite runners battle it out with course record-holder Robbie Simpson up against last year’s winner Ben Hukins – as well as the 2014 5K winner Kyle Greig.
The Ferguson Group 5K and the Accord Energy Half Marathon also have sell-out fields with 500 runners at each, as will the first event of the day, the CP&Co. Junior Run in Strathburn Park.
Race director, Eric Simpson, said: “The response to Run Garioch this year has just been amazing, with all adult races selling out well before the deadline. I’m especially pleased to see so many young runners taking part this year. If you weren’t lucky enough to get a place in one of this year’s races, please consider supporting our runners by coming out to watch this Sunday. All our runners get a real boost from the crowds, so please come along to cheer them on.”
Over 20 teams from Inverurie and beyond will be competing for the two trophies up for grabs in the Dandara 10K Team Challenge. Last year’s winners of the Inverurie Business Challenge, Zenith Oilfield, will be doing their best to hold on to theirs.
