A record turnout of 218 athletes took part in the 11th running of the Brig Bash 5 mile race held in the picturesque Perthshire village of Bridge of Earn on Wednesday July 1.
Although the hot and humid conditions ensured that the course record of 24:03 would not be challenged, there were still some excellent performances on the fast and flat course. Not least of these being Perth’s Mike Carroll who was first home in a time of 26:04, followed by Fife’s Neil Young in 26:25 and Pitreavie’s Jeff Farquhar in 26:56.
Fife’s Morgan Murphy won the Women's Race in 29:44, with unattached Claire Couper finishing second in 31:21 and Kinross’s Kate Blake in third position in 32:25.
After the race the runners enjoyed a fantastic spread as they took over the streets exchanging tales of their race experiences with each other and their friends and families.
