The phrase 'winning by a whisker' will have a slightly different meaning on 9 November with runners in Glasgow and Edinburgh taking part in the cities' MoRun events. MoRunning is already a firm fixture in Glasgow's sporting calendar, with the Glasgow MoRun returning to Glasgow Green for its third year, but this year there is a new Edinburgh MoRun taking place in Holyrood Park on the same day.
The events aim to raise awareness and funds for men's health charities. As the official running partner of Movember, MoRunners are encouraged to raise sponsorship to support Movember and fundraise for men's health. Both MoRuns are expected to sell out quickly with 1500 places available in Glasgow and 3000 places in Edinburgh. Runners can choose from a 5k or 10k route. There are 11 MoRuns taking place across the UK during Movember. Every MoRunner is encouraged to wear a moustache, whether stuck on, drawn on or carefully grown for Movember and there are prizes for the best fancy dress. Everyone who enters receives a moustache medal, MoRunning headband, full race chip timing and a Movember goodie bag.
Dave Krangel, Glasgow and Edinburgh MoRuns race director, commented: "We're delighted to return to Scotland for another year and are very excited about launching the new Edinburgh MoRun so even more families, friends and teams can get their mos on and join us for a 5k or 10k MoRun."
He added: "The Glasgow MoRun is always extremely popular and we hope Edinburgh will be too. Places are expected to fill quickly so I'd advise runners to enter early to avoid disappointment!"
