Rat Race Launches Training Runs

Training runs

Rat Race Adventure Sports has launched a nationwide network of training runs, debuting in Scotland and Yorkshire. The 5k/10k runs are designed to give participants fun flowing routes on a regular basis in some of the UK's most scenic locations.

Rat Race says: "Whether you are an out-and-out rookie or a PB-hungry racing snake, our runs are designed to give anyone who feels fleet of foot the opportunity to stretch their legs at the weekend, in some brilliant locations."

The runs will extend to other locations from May onwards with the aim of having events across the UK by the end of the year. Organisers stress that the runs will be less muddy affairs than Rat Race's endurance and adventure races, and will cater to anyone who wants to run or jog 5k or 10k. There isn't an official starting time, but instead a starting window of 10:30a-12pm with all the events taking place on a weekend.

The runs costs £10 for non-Rat Race members and will be timed with instant printouts of results that runners can take home. There will also be a free bottle of water and chocolate treat for each participant.

The Scottish venues and dates are:
Chatelherault Country Park, Saturday 18 May.
Flotterstone, Saturday 6 April
Dalkeith Country Estate, Saturday 18 May
Falkirk Wheel, Saturday 27 April
