Following the success of the inaugural OUTrun last year, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender + (LGBT) road running group Glasgow FrontRunners (GFR) will again host the five mile event on Saturday 20 August. The scenic course will see participants run through Glasgow’s Kelvingrove Park and along the Kelvin Walkway.
The run was launched last year to celebrate GFR’s fifth birthday and attracted over 200 runners. This year, the group are hoping to attract over 300 participants from all sections of the running community. As well as local runners, participants are expected to travel to the event from London, Newcastle, Manchester, Dublin and Edinburgh.
Jason Bohan, Glasgow FrontRunners club president, said: “We were so pleased with the success of OUTrun 2015, and the positive feedback we received, that the club wanted to repeat the event this year. Our theme this year is equality, and we hope that runners from all across the running community will run with us.”
OUTrun Race Director, Richard Allwood commented: “OUTrun is also GFR’s way of giving something back to the wider running community by providing an additional event in the race calendar.
“We’re keen for runners, joggers and walkers to come along and join us on the day, and if you’re not running, why not volunteer? We need over 40 volunteers to marshal and cheer the runners on their way. If you want to volunteer please email firstname.lastname@example.org.”
