Despite the date throwing up scenes of mishap and cruel pranks to unsuspecting work mates, the 11th staging of the Glasgow Running Network's 5k on Sunday, April 1, is sure to be a smooth and fun-filled affair.
780 runners signed up for last year's event, and organisers are again expecting a strong turnout at Bellahouston Park. To mark the occasion, there will be a proverbial fool's gold - or spot prizes - on offer for those in the best fancy dress outfits.
Louise Morgan, Physical and Outdoor Activities Officer with the Glasgow Running Network, said 2012's participants can expect a rousing reception: "This year we have organised a piper at the top of the hill to help keep runners going at the hardest part. For that extra bit of motivation, we also have massage therapists waiting for runners at our registration base when they finish."
The 5k Fun Run is open to everyone aged 15 years and upwards and is renowned for its friendly atmosphere. You can book your place at the event on April 1 by visiting the Glasgow Running Network's website. Entry is priced at £11, or £9 for Glasgow Club members.
