The Atlantis Oban Half Marathon and 10K has been cancelled due to a low number of entries and interest in the event. The race was scheduled to take place on 6 October and organisers admit that clashing with other major races may have affected the number of entrants. Kyle Dods, race director, said: "It is a decision that has not been taken lightly but due to the high cost of running the event versus the low entries received it is not viable to carry on. Unfortunately this year the event has clashed with other major running events which I feel may have had an impact.
The Race Committee, will be issuig a full refund to the current entries that have been received so far. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has been involved in the organisation and also in this year's Race Series. "
A final fun 5K Ganavan event will be held to mark an end to this year's race series, based on times from the series throughout the summer. The date is yet to be confirmed but the event will take place in late October/November. Details will be released on Atlantis Leisure's website.
