One of Scotland’s oldest races – the Nigel Barge Memorial 10K – returns to Glasgow for its 74th hosting on Sunday (24 January). The race was first held in 1943 to commemorate Nigel Barge who was killed in action in Dunkirk during World War II.
The two-lap course starts from Garscube Sports Centre. The undulating route features an internal loop of the grounds before making its way upward onto Bearsden Road, along Dalsholm Road, onto Maryhill Road and back to the sports centre.
There will also be a 3K Junior Fun Run held for those aged 9-17. Finishers will be rewarded for their hard work with a ‘Nigel Barge’ medal, ribbon, fresh fruit and a bottle of water. Home baking will also be on offer.
