New Year Fun At Shortbread Run

ShortbreadWest Dunbartonshire Athletics Club are inviting runners to start 2016 on a healthy footing at Balloch’s New Year’s Shortbread 2-mile Walk Jog or Run. Now in its fifth year, the event will be held in Balloch Country Park on 2 January.

Organisers are inviting the local community along with walkers, joggers and runners from further afield to come along and lace up their trainers.
The 2-mile course follows the pathways around the park, starting at the main gates before taking in the stunning Balloch Castle, Walled Garden and the beautiful backdrop of the hills, before returning back to the main gates. You can view a map of the route here.
The course will be marked out with directional signs and limited stewards. Children under 11 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. There is no registration, no fee and no official recording of times. Just turn up for a walk, jog or run in the park.
As the name suggests, participants will be rewarded for their efforts with complimentary post-run shortbread from event sponsors Walkers. For more information go to the Run n Park website or contact Maurice Donohue at mauricedonohue@btinternet.com.
