jogscotland West Dunbartonshire has been shortlisted for the jogscotland National Awards which takes place at the Glasgow Marriot this evening (Saturday(27 October. The group has been nominated for 'Group of the Year' and jog leader Maurice Donohue is also up for nomination in the 'Leader of the Year' category.
The West Dunbartonshire group will hold their own awards ceremony on 17 November at Dumbarton Football Club stadium. The event will run from 7:15pm to 12am and includes a raffle, finger buffet, Strictly Come Jogging (with a special guest), a disco and more.
As one of the founding members of jogscotland, the West Dunbartonshire group celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, and to mark the occasion they will be holding a 5k on 4 November. The run takes place in Levengrove Park, Dumbarton and is open to anyone, though children under 11 must be accompanied by an adult. There is no registration, no fee and no official recording of times. The course will be marked out with directional signs and limited stewards.
West Dunbartonshire jogleader and 'Leader of the Year' nominee Maurice Donohue said of the 5k: "I went around the race route this morning and with the glorious sunshine, it really captures the spirit of the area with the River Clyde and Dumbarton Castle in the background. This is where West Dunbartonshire jogscotland started 10 years ago, so I suppose this is the spiritual home of the group."
