Club runners from across Scotland joined Team GB athletes Callum Hawkins, Andy Butchart, and Josephine Moultrie in Cumbernauld on Saturday (22 October) for a record turnout at the 24th Scottish National XC Relays joint championships. An undulating, slightly muddy 2.5km loop greeted the juniors, with the seniors completing an additional 1.5km in near perfect weather conditions.
Defending champions Central AC, were led home by Butchart to complete a five-in-a-row victory. Edinburgh Uni Hare and Hounds took silver, with Aberdeen AAC Hill Runners helping them to third place. Hawkins' Kilbarchan AAC team were 17th before his blistering 11.01 third leg helped them to 8th overall.
Edinburgh Uni Hare and Hounds dominated the women's field to finish first, followed by a strong finish from Central AC, squeezing Moultrie's Victoria Park-City of Glasgow AAC team into third.
Edinburgh AC won both male and female junior titles with Cambuslang Harriers picking up their six-in-a-row for the Men's Masters, and winning the Men's V50. New club PH Racing collected the Women's Masters, with Springburn Harrier's taking the Women's V50.
