Mrs Soos Edinburgh Runningmoon

Lisa Dobriskey will target the Bupa Great Edinburgh International Cross Country as her first outing after marrying former Olympic 800 metres athlete Ricky Soos next Saturday in Loughborough.

The World Championships 1500m silver medallist who only returned from a high altitude training camp in Kenya at the beginning of November has no intention of tapering down her preparations for next year and will continue her schedule throughout the couple's honeymoon.

Dobriskey believes cross country is a vital component for middle distance runners and in the past has been a regular contestant in the world's leading event which takes place in Holyrood Park on January 9 and always features a high quality international field.

"It's great to have her along again particularly after her brilliant summer season when coming back from injury she so narrowly missed winning the gold medal in Berlin," Andy Caine the meeting's elite athletes manager said. Caine added:"The six kilometres race will as usual feature some very big global names and I hope to tie up the final list after the European Cross Country Championships in Dublin on Sunday. The same goes for the men's international competition over 9km and the domestic 4km contest.

Dobriskey apart from her Edinburgh outing is also planning an indoor campaign over 3000m which could see her challenge for a medal at the World Indoor Championships which Doha will host in early March. However her main target remains chasing the European Championships 1500m title in Barcelona at the end of July where she will start as a genuine contender for the gold medal.

The Bupa Great Edinburgh International Cross Country is organised by Nova International and the day also includes the Bupa Great Winter Run and the Bupa Junior Winter Run. The Bupa Great Winter Run is a 5km event for runners of all abilities and also takes place in Holyrood Park, Edinburgh. The Bupa Junior Great Winter Run is for boys and girls aged 7 – 13 years covering approximately 2.5km.
