Mo Ponders Marathon Move

Mo Farah winning Bupa 10,000m

Mo Farah has indicated that he is ready to make his marathon debut on the streets of London. Farah who enjoyed a dream two weeks in the capital when winning Olympic gold in the 10,000m and 5,000m is set to step up in distance in his hometown, possibly in time for the 2014 Virgin London Marathon.

Appearing at a London school this week, he revealed that he will remain with the track for next summer's World Championships in Moscow before moving to the roads the following year.

He said: "I'd like to see myself go through from Olympic champion to world champion to longer distances - and see what I can do for the marathon. It's a different pain. I've done a 20 mile run and that's tough. The speed the guys run you need to be training, training.

"I'll think about the track for the world championships and then at the back of my mind I'll know when I'll do a marathon. I'd like to do London, that would be the first one, because you run in front of 80,000 people in the stadium and if I was running on the streets of London it would be great support. It would motivate me more than anything else.

"As a kid I did the mini-marathon so it would be rude not to do the full marathon. We're not going to step yet, we're still going to do the track."
