West Dunbartonshire jogscotland leader Maurice Donohue has completed his MO GO 50 Challenge, which saw him run 50 half marathons throughout 2013 to raise funds for Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH). The final race of the challenge was the jogscotland West Dunbartonshire Unofficial Half Marathon and 10K Training Run on Sunday (8 December).
Maurice commented on his final marathon: "Despite the poor weather during the second half of the run, there was a great atmosphere and support. Over 120 participants took part and it was great to see so many people come out for the run and join me in completing my MO GO 50 Challenge at Lomond Shores. It has been quite a year with so many good memories, but this run really did top it off."
He also spoke about the adventures he had during the challenge: "From the outset it has been quite an experience running in events in Peterhead, Girvan, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Jedburgh and local ones from the Helensburgh Half Marathon to the Balloch to Clydebank race. Not forgetting running a marathon with paralympic athlete Richard Whitehead!
"The organised local half marathon and 10k training runs have been very inspiring as so many people have achieved personal goals by taking part. A big thank you for all your kindness and good wishes, it really has made this challenge very special indeed. With regards to the donations towards the SAMH charity, it really has been overwhelming and very generous indeed."
