Following Gavin Orr running in full Highland regalia at the Callanish Stones Marathon last Saturday, Commonwealth silver medallist Stephen Milne will don the national dress as he takes part in the Perth Kilt Run this weekend (9 August). The event is part of the Perth Highland Games and is aiming to have 2014 runners taking part in the race wearing kilts to set a new Guinness World Record.
Stephen, a member of the Perth City Swim Club since he was 9, was part of the relay team which took second place in the 4x200m relay at Tollcross Pool. He will be joined by other Commonwealth stars with several of the Scotty dogs from the opening ceremony also taking part.
The 5k flat course starts and finishes on the North Inch parklands in the heart of the city. The event will kick off around 11.30 am with British Military Fitness warming up participants before handing over to a special mascots' race featuring the Kilt Run's own Hairy McKilty.
Another participant is Elma Low, leading a team planning to Powerhoop their way around the course to raise money for S.H.I.P and Splash Play Scheme - a local charity who support and help kids and their families with complex additional needs.
