Michelle Mone To Run Women's 10K

Michelle MoneBra tycoon Michelle Mone OBE has announced she will run at this year's Morrison's Great Women's 10K on 17 May. The 43-year-old was at the Emirates Arena’s running track in Glasgow this week to get some training in before the event.

Michelle was joined by Erica Thompson  from Glasgow, a novice runner also taking part in this year’s Morrison’s Great Women’s 10k. Michelle was on hand to offer Erica some fitness advice and encourgaement ahead of her participation in the event which will be her first step in her mission to change her lifestyle and get fitter and healthier.  
 
Entrepreneur and founder of lingerie firm Ultimo, Michelle, said: "I am really looking forward to taking part. It will be fantastic to run in my home city alongside thousands of inspiring ladies. I have worked very hard over the past few years to get myself fit and healthy." Her message to women thinking of signing up for the race: "If I can do it, so can you."
 
Erica said: “It has been fantastic to meet Michelle today and hear some of her advice on training and motivation. Over the past few years I have signed up to various sporting events and never ended up taking part. I am really looking forward to the Morrisons Great Women’s 10K and Michelle has really encouraged me to go for it – I can’t back out now!”
 
As the largest female running event in the UK, the race saw almost 8,000 participants complete the course last year.  The course starts in Nitshdale Road in the south side of Glasgow and goes through Pollokshields, heading into Pollok Park before finishing on Mosspark Boulevard outside Bellahouston Park. Throughout the course, runners are cheered on by 'Bands on the Run', providing musical accompaniment.
